Proposals for the former Cunningham's Camp site in Douglas would be accompanied by new offices, staff accommodation and facilities built for King Gaming (KG).

Its backers have not given any cost for the project, but they have said it would provide "significant" job opportunities.

John Lee, director of KG said that the new campus will be an "unique development."

The plans for the complex, that would span just over two acres (0.8 hectares) was conceived by Manx firms Excel Group and Bell Burton Associates (BBA) together with Dutch designers HofmanDujardin.

It would comprise a huge office block with two buildings for staff, collaborative work areas, and landscaped parkland surrounding the site. The camp for holiday guests was shut down in World War Two and has been abandoned since then.

It was initially opened at the beginning of the 20th Century, Cunningham's Camp served as an internment camp during World War One and as an operational base for Royal Navy training in World War Two before being sold off after the war.

BBA's Brian Butler said many local professionals had collaborated on the concept of the "fantastic development", which when approved, would "provide significant investment".

He added that work would begin "immediately" if the plans are approved.
